Eat It! Food Adventures™

The first in a series of adventure stories woven into cookbooks for kids written by RfS founder, Gracie Cavnar, Eat it! Food Adventures - In Search of Pasta and Pizza will be on shelves in late 2009.   The tale follows a pint-sized member of Marco Polo’s expedition who discovers wondrous foods in his travels that are very much like his favorite pasta and pizza dishes back home.  It features more than 35 kid-friendly recipes inspired by the food traditions of Persia, China, Southeast Asia, India, Africa and Italy.

A children’s television program and interactive website, Eat It! Food Adventures will feature five young hosts ranging in age from 6 to 11 and their mentor, a professional chef. Each of the planned 13 segments will feature a special guest and open in the garden, at either a farm, farmers market, or in a specialty ethnic food store, where the kids explore what is seasonally available and brainstorm about what they will cook with it. Afterward they bring their discovered bounty back to the kitchen where their mentor and special guest help prepare a healthy dish from scratch.  www.eatitfoodadventures.org will feature podcasts, recipes, kid blogs, interactive forums and games to complement the series.
