RECIPE GARDEN

Built on the campus of each elementary school, the Recipe Garden is designed to be a dynamic outdoor classroom for use by every teacher. Each class enjoys its own plot to plant, tend and learn in with special lesson plans woven into math, science, art, language and social studies. The Recipe Gardens are also be available to after-school programs and summer camps. Compatible learning opportunities include:


• After-school Junior Master Gardener programs
• Integrating harvests into school lunches and snacks
• Garden to Plate student menu & recipe development
• Students selling produce at area Farmers Markets as a school fundraising tool
• A regular Farmer’s Markets on school grounds
